Steve & Dawn

Hi, welcome to the Otter’s Holt. We’re Steve and Dawn Minto and we live in a small village called Swarland right in the heart of England’s wild, untamed county… Northumberland. In this blog we’ll be sharing our passions for the history, wildlife, food, myths and traditions of one of England’s most unspoiled regions.

Rather like Ireland, Northumberland has retained a rich heritage of traditional music. Visitors to the region are often surprised to find themselves sitting in on informal gatherings of local musicians playing flutes, fiddles and Northumbrian pipes at one of the many pub ‘sessions’.  As keen session-goers we post regular updates on the local traditional music scene.

We’re also keen walkers, so our blog is a useful resource for anyone looking for the most scenic and historical places to explore throughought the county.
